- Decide who is authorized to initiate the evacuation plan.Managers must resist the temptation to vest this power in one or two people. Nearly everyone misses an occasional day of work due to illness, vacation or family obligation. If the boss is out of the building, others must have the authority to implement the evacuation plan. All employees should know who has the authority to implement the evacuation plan.
